Minooka OHV Park
Minooka OHV Park is a 420-acre county-operated off-road riding facility in Chilton County, Alabama, located near the town of Jemison approximately 45 miles south of Birmingham off I-65. Unlike the privately operated commercial parks that dominate Alabama's OHV landscape, Minooka is managed by Chilton County government, which keeps operating costs lower and the facility accessible to local families. The park features wooded ATV and UTV trails of varying difficulty through mixed pine and hardwood forest, alongside amenities uncommon at commercial parks at similar price points: a fishing pond, covered pavilions, and a developed RV campground with hookups. ATVs, UTVs, and dirt bikes are permitted on the designated trail network. The county-operated model means the park tends to skew toward family-friendly riding rather than extreme challenge routes, though intermediate technical sections are available. Admission rates reflect the county subsidy and are generally lower than comparable commercial parks. Located directly off the I-65 corridor, Minooka is a convenient stop for riders traveling between Birmingham and Montgomery.
